The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) is a not-for-profit global network of communication professionals committed to improving organizational effectiveness through strategic communication. Established in 1970, IABC serves members in more than 70 countries for networking, career development, and personal growth.
Founded in 1981, Brazos Valley IABC (BVIABC) conducts its meetings in the sister cities of Bryan and College Station, Texas. Our chapter serves member and nonmember communicators employed by private businesses, government, educational, and not-for-profit organizations within the Brazos Valley area. The Brazos Valley is located in southeast Texas and includes parts of seven counties along the Brazos River. Broadly speaking, we’re southeast of Waco, northwest of Houston, and east of Austin.
BVIABC was honored as the International Small Chapter of the Year in 1989, 1990, 1991, 1995, 1996, and 2002, and the International Chapter of the Year in 1991, 1993, and 2003.
IABC Around the World
Other Texas IABC chapters include those in East Texas, Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, and San Antonio.
Texas is part of the Southern Region, which includes chapters in as far west as Arizona, as far north as Kansas and North Carolina, and as far east and south as Florida and the Caribbean. There are 25 active chapters spread across 13 U.S. states, the Caribbean and Latin America, making IABC’s Southern Region the broadest global geographic region within the association. The level of diversity within our region truly gives credence to the “International” in IABC.
Across the United States, you’ll find IABC chapters in the major cities of nearly every state. International chapters include those located in Hong Kong, Malaysia, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Belgium, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Southern Africa, and the United Kingdom.
