- Opportunities for leadership. Our chapter relies on volunteers for everything from planning special seminars to creating this website! By serving on a committee, you can help your chapter, develop your leadership skills, and have fun.
- Members-only web resources. In the IABC.com members section, you can find a colleague anywhere in the world, manage your career and more. In our chapter website’s members area, you can add your name and links to the Freelancer directory, post news items directly to the front page, post comments on website articles, and more. BVIABC members also have access to the chapter member directory.
- Discounts. An investment in IABC membership saves you money on awards competition entry fees, workshops, luncheons, and networking events held at the chapter, regional, and international levels.
Dues for an annual professional membership in BVIABC are $304 and are broken down into chapter ($40), regional ($10) and international ($254) amounts. Don’t forget that some companies pay for some or all of your professional development, so be sure to ask your employer if your membership costs are covered.
Other Types of Membership
Student: Full-time students of colleges, universities and other educational institutions or part-time students working toward a degree or certificate, who are not presently engaged in the organizational communication profession, can join at an annual rate of $69.
Transitional: Those joining within one year of graduation or transitioning from student to professional membership may join at a reduced annual rate of $177.
Retired: Those who retire from the profession, who have been a professional member for at least 5 years and are at least 55 years of age may renew at the annual retiree rate of $49.
Texas A&M Corporate Membership: Individuals who work for a Texas A&M-affiliated entity are eligible to join as corporate members. Texas A&M is one of only 13 IABC higher-education corporate membership groups and the only one with gold-level status. To maintain gold-level status the group must have 31 or more members. As a gold-level corporate member, the international portion of the annual professional membership dues is discounted, resulting in a flat rate of $275 per person. Application fees are waived for new and reinstating corporate members. Dues for corporate members may be paid by either the member or their employer.
